GERMANY DURING WORLD WAR II & THE COLD WAR

Germany is one of the most important countries for understanding the origins, consequences, and legacy of World War II. This journey follows the story from the rise of National Socialism in Munich, through the Nazi Party's mass rallies in Nuremberg, to Berlin, where students explore both the collapse of the Third Reich and the history of divided Germany during the Cold War.

Key historical themes

Rise of National Socialism: Munich, known as the "Capital of the Movement," was where Hitler and the Nazi Party first gained influence. Nuremberg later became the stage for massive Nazi rallies and propaganda.

The Holocaust & Nazi Regime: Memorial sites such as Dachau, the House of the Wannsee Conference, and the Topography of Terror document the persecution of millions of people and the mechanisms behind Nazi rule and the Holocaust.

Cold War & Divided Germany: Berlin offers insight into Germany's post-war division through sites such as the Berlin Wall Memorial and the Stasi Museum, illustrating life under communist rule and the path to reunification.

Why this journey matters

By visiting authentic historical sites across Germany, students gain a deeper understanding of how dictatorship emerged, how propaganda and political extremism shaped society, and why democracy, human rights, and historical remembrance remain essential today.
