CESKY KRUMLOV

Cesky Krumlov is one of the nicest towns in Southern Bohemia located about 170 km from Prague. In the summer months it is crowded with both locals and tourists, who like to enjoy the pleasant atmosphere in this fairy-tale town, protected by UNESCO.
During the tour, you can admire beautiful historical houses, outdoor cafes, narrow streets or second largest Baroque castle in the Czech Republic. There is a unique theatre with rotating auditorium in the castle park and the castle itself has one of the oldest Baroque theatres with well preserved stage technology and machinery decorations. Karlovy Vary is a beautiful and well-known spa town about 120 km West of Prague. Our guide picks you up from your hotel and after about 2-hour drive will show you around in the center of Karlovy Vary, where you will see the famous colonnades and have the opportunity to taste the healthy water from some of the 12 mineral springs. Karlovy Vary is famous not only for its spa, but also for the traditional herb liqueur Becherovka, which has been produced here since 1807. Unique Moser Crystal is also produced here. You have to try the famous spa wafers too. Don’t miss the opportunity to swim in the outdoor thermal swimming pool built into a cliff above the city!!

Karlstejn is one of the most visited castles in the Czech Republic, about 40 km from Prague. It was built by the emperor Charles IV in the middle of 14th century and served as a depository of Empire Coronation Jewels and archive for state documents. After we climb up the hill to the castle we will have a tour of the castle’s interiors. The guide will explain the history of the castle as well as the culture of the Charles IV period as he was very advanced and important emperor for the Czech country. Afterwards you can enjoy the time at your leisure by strolling around the village of Karlstejn, pop in at local shops with crystal and souvenirs or just have a coffee or beer in one of the local restaurants.

We would like to take you for a full day trip to a beautiful countryside around 30 km out of Prague. We will start the tour by visiting a family-owned glasswork to see the production of the traditional Czech crystal. You can admire the unique work of the glass blowers and cutters and visit a factory shop where the crystal is cheaper than in Prague. Our next stop is a small village  of Karlstejn with one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic. Karlstejn was founded in the 14th century by Charles IV as a depositary for the Empire Coronation Jewels and holy relics. First stop on this tour will be the dripstone caves in Koněprusy. They were formed 25-30 mill. years ago and discovered in 1950 and opened to the public 9 years later. The guide will show you 8 different rooms in two levels. In one of the rooms you will see copies of bones from bear, rhino, monkey, deer and man, that once lived there. In the 15th century the caves housed a secret workshop of money forgers. Next stop is the village Karstejn, where you have the possibility to visit the castle build by Charles IV, serving as a depository for the royal crown jewels and the relics. In Karlstejn you will have some time on your own for lunch and for cheap crystal and souvenir shopping.

This tour will show you the famous drip-stone caves in Koneprusy, about 30 km southwest of Prague, in the middle of the nature reserve of Czech Karst. The caves have developed in 400 million years old Devonian limestone and were discovered only in 1950. They consist of three levels 70 meters under the ground level and are over 2 km long. The accessible part is 600m long and the tour inside the cave lasts about one hour. The caves can boast of numerous paleontological excavations, in one of the rooms you will see copies of bones from bear, rhino, monkey, deer and man that once lived there. The top level housed a 15th century secret workshop of money forgers.

KONOPISTE CASTLE
Visit Konopiště castle with a lot of unique art collections. This castle was the last residence of Franz Ferdinand d’Este, who was the successor to the Habsbourg throne.

Konopiště is a lovely hunting castle located about 45 km out of Prague in a beautiful area full of lakes and forests. It was founded in the 13th century and became famous as it was the residence of the successor to the Hapsburgs throne, Franz Ferdinand d’Este, who was assassinated in Sarajevo in 1914, which started WW I. In the castle you can admire Ferdinand’s many hunting trophies, his enormous art collection and a lot of statues and pictures of St. George. The castle contains one of the world’s biggest collection of historic weapons, too. After the excursion you can stroll in the beautiful garden, visit the greenhouse or greet the live bears.

KUTNA HORA
Bone church, Medieval cathedral and underground silvermines – we will show you all this in the little town of Kutna Hora, protected by UNESCO.

Kutna Hora is a town protected by UNESCO since 1995. It is situated about 65 km east of Prague. In the Middle Ages it became the second most important city after Prague.
The silver was mined directly below the current town and during the tour you will have a possibility to visit the former underground silvermines. You will also see the Cathedral of St. Barbara, which is almost a symbol of Kutna Hora, and the beautiful Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque burgher houses. We also visit one of the most interesting burial places in the world, the Ossuary in Sedlec. The chapel is decorated with more than 40.000 human bones.

A tragic story of a small village during the World War II.

Lidice village, the name of which became a symbol of fascist despotism in World War II, lies 20 km west of Prague. It is a place where the Nazis carried out an act of vengeance for the assassination of the deputy Reichs-protektor that shocked all the world. The whole village was razed to the ground, all men were shot and women and children were taken to the extermination camps. The tragedy of this little village is commemorated by an impressive museum with multi-medial exposition and film presentation. The grounds of the old Lidice were made into a reverent area where only foundations of some buildings and emotive pieces of art remind the former village site.

Let us take you for an exceptional medieval evening to a small village called Detenice, around 70 km from Prague. We will start with an excursion in the late Baroque mansion, which has been very well renovated. The tour continues to the private micro brewery and museum where we learn more about beer brewing. The unconventional dinner will be served in the medieval restaurant, prepared on open fire with free consumption of freshly brewed beer from the micro brewery and completed with ‘medieval service standards’ and an entertaining medieval program. The show includes “rude” waiters, musicians, dancers, jugglers, fencers, magicians, and clowns.

SKODA CAR MUSEUM & FACTORY
Visit the Skoda Muzeum with old cars, see a film about Skoda and go to two factory halls to see how they produce Skoda cars.

The famous Skoda car factory is located in the town of Mlada Boleslav, about one hour drive from Prague. This interesting tour starts with a short movie about the the history of the Skoda factory and the Skoda production. After that we will continue to the Skoda museum where the very first Skoda vehicles – bicycles from 1890′s – and many cars made during the past 100 years, from old timers till modern cars of these days are exhibited. During this tour we will also take you to the production area of the factory, where you can see the assembly line or gear box production of Skoda Fabia. A bus is needed for the tour of the factory.

TEREZIN
During the tour to Terezin, the transit camp for Jewish prisoners during WW II, we visit the concentration camp, the ghetto and the crematorium.

VOJNA COMMUNIST PRISON & LABOR CAMP
The only preserved prison from the time of Communist persecution

The Vojna prison camp served as a slave labor camp for political opponents of Communist regime from 1949 and in 1951-1961 as a prison for political prisoners. Also here were imprisoned the Czech democrats as politicians, teachers, scientists, artists, preachers, sportsmen. They were used for slave labor, mostly in uranium mines. Vojna Hard Labor Camp is the last place where authentic prison buildings from the time of Communist persecution are preserved. Vojna was proclaimed a Cultural Monument in 2001 because the awareness of its existence must be preserved for future generations.
